New Roles at Wheeling University to Increase Outreach

New roles have been assigned to several Wheeling University employees.

 

As part of the University’s strategic plan for growth, Wheeling University’s Office of the President is pleased to announce the realignment of duties for several employees to form the Wheeling University Alumni and Family Engagement team that will focus on the overall communication efforts of the University. 

 

“One of my goals is to increase Wheeling University’s connection with our alumni, family and the community in general. This realignment of duties is meant to address that need and result in greater outreach to our region, alumni and families,” said Ginny R. Favede, Wheeling University president.

 

The main goal of the Office Alumni and Family Engagement is to bring University stakeholders together and forge stronger relationships. This specially constructed team will focus on University communication; building relationships between alumni and family and the University; and building relationships between the University and the community, while assisting in the execution of University media and marketing campaigns.  

 

In the coming months the newly formed Office of Alumni and Family Engagement will organize and host events locally, regionally and nationally to re-engage alumni, parents, prospective students, and benefactors. 

 

Wheeling University President, Ginny Favede organized the group to better serve the needs of the university which will be instrumental in successfully moving the institution forward. Favede said, “Our Community, Alumni and Family are a vital part of the University. As such, our goal is timely communication, to increase alumni and parent engagement through events and outreach for the purpose of raising awareness and pride in Wheeling University and to increase involvement as volunteers, ambassadors, student recruiters and as donors,” Additionally, Favede has tasked the team with developing and executing strategies for engaging alumni, parents/families, and friends of the university to secure their support for Wheeling University through philanthropy, advocacy, and service. To develop meaningful connections and affinity between alumni/parents and the college. “Our engagement opportunities mirror Wheeling University’s commitment to learning, innovation, passion and purpose.”

 

The Office of Alumni and Family Engagement cultivates and sustains lifelong relationships among the Wheeling University family, bringing together the college and our more than 13,000 alumni and families through a variety of formal and informal programs.

 

Founded in 1954, Wheeling University is the only Catholic institution of higher learning in West Virginia. Its mission is to provide a quality, Catholic, liberal arts education in the Ignatian tradition to our students – educating them for life, leadership and service for and among others. 

 Introducing the Wheeling University Office of Alumni and Family Engagement:


julia.jpg Julia Cook is a Pittsburgh native and comes to Wheeling University with many years of experience in public relations and marketing as a long time spokesperson and former news anchor. She obtained her bachelor's degree in business administration from La Roche University, and her Master's degree in Media Communications from Point Park University.
tessa.jpg Tessa Gretchen was born and raised in Adena, Ohio and received her degree from West Liberty University while also competing in Cross-Country and Track & Field for the university. Before starting at Wheeling University, Tessa worked as a Marketing Assistant for Williams Lea Tag, located in downtown Wheeling, and the Assistant Marketing Director for Ohio Valley Mall in Saint Clairsville, Ohio.

 

kelly.jpg Kelly Klubert is a 1985 graduate of Wheeling University with a bachelor's degree in communications. The Tiltonsville, Ohio resident has worked at the University for the past 23 years, holding positions in the communications, conference services and alumni offices. Prior to her time at Wheeling Univerisity, Klubert spent 10 years as a reporter, bureau chief and editor at the Times Leader newspaper in Martins Ferry, Ohio

 

janet.jpg Janet Nolan has been with the University since 1997 and previous to that was the Director for the American Cancer Society for the Northern Panhandle of WV. Janet has over thirty years of fundraising, event planning and data management experience. The Wheeling native is a proud member of WU BOLD98  Class and is certified through Blackbaud in Raiser's Edge Fundamentals, a data management system.
meggie.jpg Meggie Voll is from a small town named Friendly, West Virginia. She spent 4 years at West Liberty University earning her bachelor's degree in Digital Media Design. After graduating from college Meggie starting working at Shirts N' More as their assistant graphic designer for 3.5 years. Meggie now resides in Moundsville, West Virginia.
