Wheeling Jesuit University recently announced that Ryan Lewicki, a Moundsville native, would take over as head baseball coach. Rudy Yovich, athletic director, made the official announcement on Thursday, Feb. 7.

"Being named the head coach at Wheeling Jesuit University has truly been a dream come true to me. Coming back to the Ohio Valley and being able to accept this position is an exciting time for my family and I. I couldn't be more excited and ready to take this position head on and move the program in the right direction," said Lewicki.

Lewicki spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Ohio Valley in Vienna, West Virginia. The Fighting Scots reached the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship game in 2015 and posted the school's first winning record since 2006 when they went 28-23 in 2017. Ohio Valley averaged 20 wins per season during Lewicki's tenure.

He holds a bachelor's degree in Physical Education with a minor in Health Wellness from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a master's degree in Education from Ohio Valley University.

"The baseball program at WJU is something I grew up knowing about. I visited here as a high school senior when Coach Edwards was here. I played against Jesuit for four straight years while being at West Virginia Wesleyan," Lewicki said. "This is a special place. There are a lot of amazing people here and in this community. The opportunity to come back to this area and lead this baseball program was a no brainer."
