Wheeling Jesuit Football Coach, Zac Bruney has signed his first 41 players – a group that includes local ties, as well as NFL pedigree.

Wednesday, Feb. 7, was National Signing Day for football and the Cardinal grid boss is pleased with his initial group of Cardinals who will launch WJU’s program.cardinal-web.jpg

“We, as a staff, are really proud of the caliber of student-athletes that have signed Letters of Intent to join our program today.  We believe we have signed top-notch talent, but more importantly the right academic and character profiles for a program has to be built on,” Bruney said of his first group of players.

As a head coach, Burney said it’s gratifying to see all of the hours spent on recruiting come to fruition. “This initial wave of signees will be looked upon as the leaders -- the brick layers to our program. They are all a part of the history and excitement that is the rarest of opportunities as a college student-athlete – to build a new program from ground zero and establish a great culture.”
