Wheeling, WV, May 2, 2009---WV Wesleyan’s women claimed their seventh straight WVIAC Track and Field championship and 17th of the last 19 today at Wheeling Jesuit University with a team total of 234 points.

2009 WVIAC Track & Field Meet Preview Chris Kreger, Meet Director
Wheeling, WV, April 30, 2009---The 2009 West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Track & Field portion of the Championships will be held this Friday and Saturday May1-2 at Wheeling Jesuit University starting at 12:30pm on Friday.

Kump, Beattie Take WVIAC T&F Multi-Event Titles
West Virginia Wesleyan's Richard Kump and Seton Hill's Erin Beattie maintained their lead from day one to capture the WVIAC multi-event titles. Kump tallied 6277 points to easily win the men's decathlon, while Beattie registered 4037 points on her way to top heptathlon honors. Points earned from this weekend's multi-events carry over to the main portion of next week's WVIAC Track & Field Championship.

Sarah Campanelli Places 15th in the Country
Sara Campanelli (So., Gahanna, OH) had a tough race at the National Championship Meet. She ran a 2:19.23 and had a difficult time getting to the outside to make a pass. She placed 15th in the country and the top nine qualified for the final. Her best mark of the season was 2:10.67 which automatically qualified for the Division II National Championships.

Sarah Campanelli to Compete in the Division II National Championships Festival in Houston
Sarah Campanelli (So., Gahanna, OH) and 16 others will be chasing the dream to become a national champion in the women's 800 meter run this weekend in Houston, TX. She currently holds the fourth best Division II time in this event.
Seventeen runners will be split into two heats for the 800 meter prelims on Friday, March 13th at 5:30 pm. Sarah is in the first heat and holds the second best time in the heat. The top three finishers from each heat and the next three best times will determine the nine runners who will advance to Saturday's final at 4:30 pm.

Campanelli Breaks Five Minute barrier in Mile at NYU
Sarah Campanelli (So., Gahanna, OH) is the first woman in WJU history to run the mile under five minutes with a time of 4:58.90. Her personal best and school record in the mile stood at 5:02.38. In addition, she is now qualified to compete in two events at the NCAA Indoor National Championships. The first came in the 800 meter (2:10.27) at the Akron Invitational and now the mile (4:58.90) at this weekend's NYU's Fast Track Invitational.

Campanelli Qualifies for Nationals with Second Best Division II 800 Meter Time
Sarah Campanelli (So., Gahanna, OH) ran the second best Division II Indoor 800 Meter to date at this past weekend’s Akron Invitational. She ran 2:10.27 and placed third as the only Division II athlete in the event.

Great Dane Classic Highlights
Sarah Campanelli(So., Gahanna, OH) ran a school record and NCAA Provisional qualifying mark of 5:02.38 in the women's mile. This time put her in third place and in a very competitive mile field. She was the only Division II runner in the field that was dominated by Division I athletes. |
