Hat Trick Does It for Jesuit
Wheeling, WV, Oct. 27, 2009---Wheeling Jesuit women's soccer played host to the Seton Hill Griffins on Tuesday evening in a cold steady rain, causing the field conditions to deteriorate throughout the game. Despite the sloppy field conditions, the Cardinals out shot the Griffins 27-5.
In the first half, the Cardinals attempted 17 shots with 10 of them being on goal. Freshman Ashley McGinnis started the scoring in the 22nd minute, and struck again eight minutes later off a pass from junior Stephanie Marazza. Senior Jessica Park was in the net and stopped the only two shots attempted by the Seton Hill offense. The Cardinals would take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
After the break, The Cardinals continued to battle the weather as well as the Seton Hill defense. They posted 10 more shots and half of them were on target. In the 76th minute, senior Jamie Albert sent a shot off the left post which went to the middle of the box for junior Kara Houston. Houston sent a second shot at the goal and and Griffin Keeper, Jenna Forzano, deflected it to McGinnis. McGinnis sent the deflection past Forzano for her third goal of the game and second hat trick of the year.
Senior Jessica Park earned the descision, recording four saves.
Wheeling Jesuit will be back in action on Saturday, October 31st for Senior Day against the Pitt-Johnstown in a 3:00 p.m. kick-off. |
