Lady Cards are Pretty in Pink
Wheeling, WV, Oct. 25, 2009---Wheeling Jesuit women’s soccer team also wore in pink jerseys to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the second game on Sunday against the Shepherd University Rams on Wheeling Jesuit’s Family Weekend.
The Lady Cardinals’ controlled the game tempo from the opening whistle, attempting fifteen shots during the game with eleven coming in the first half. Juniors Stephanie Marazza and Kara Houston hit the back of the net in the 2-0 shutout performance. Marazza scored in the 15th minute which proved to be the game winner and Houston made it 2-0 in the 48th minute.
The Cardinal defense would allow three shots on the day. The Rams managed to get off two shots in the first period with one being on target. Senior goalkeeper Jessica Park kept the ball in front of her, recording her only save during the shutout.
The women will play host to Seton Hill University on Tuesday, October 27th at 7:00 p.m.
