Lady Cards Defeat Lake Erie College

Painesville, OH, Sept.22, 2009--- The Wheeling Jesuit University women’s soccer team (4-4) defeated Lake Erie College (2-4-2) 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Slattery Field.

During the first period, the Lady Cards controlled the ball and the game tempo.  They outshot the Storm eight to six. 

In the 34th minute, junior Hannah Walker sent a pass to freshman Amy Stiltner on the left post. Stiltner knocked the ball over her left shoulder into the right side of the net on a bicycle kick for a 1-0 advantage.

In the second period, the Lady Cards continued to apply offensive pressure. Junior Kara Houston made it a 2-0 contest by sending a shot to the back of the net off a pass from sophomore Megan Newrones in the 49th minute.  

Senior Jessica Park anchored the defense, recording a shutout on five saves.

Wheeling Jesuit women’s soccer will be back in action on Sunday, September 27th against the University of Charleston at 4:00 p.m. in Charleston, WV.
