Cardinals Sweep Mountain Cats
Wheeling, WV, Oct. 15, 2009---Wheeling Jesuit women's volleyball take three straight sets from University of Pitt-Johnstown by scores of 25-11, 25-23, and 25-21 on Thursday evening at the Alma Grace McDonough Center.
Junior Keysha Allison had 9 kills, 11 assists and 8 digs to lead a balanced Cardinal attack. Only playing one set, freshman Allissa Ware recorded 7 kills. The remaining kill leaders for Wheeling Jesuit were junior Emily Borchers (6), freshman Angela McNulty (5), senior Missy Gossett (4), and senior Catie Halberstadt (4).
The Cardinal defense held the Mountain Cats to a .161 hitting percentage while blocking 10 shots and recording 56 digs. Borchers accounted for three blocks with Allisson and McNulty adding two apiece. Junior Laura O'Reilly led the team in digs with 14 and Halberstadt chipped in nine.
Wheeling Jesuit will travel to Fairmont, WV on Friday, October 23rd for a conference match against Fairmont State University at 7:00 p.m. |
