Cardinals Fly Past Falcons
Fairmont, WV, Oct. 23, 2009---Wheeling Jesuit volleyball team improves to 8-0 in conference play after picking up a road win on Friday evening against Fairmont State University. The Cardinals won in three sets by scores of 25-14, 25-19, and 25-13.
Wheeling Jesuit displayed a balanced offensive attack against the Falcons with senior Missy Gossett recording nine kills. Four Cardinals combined for the remaining twenty kills. Senior Catie Halberstadt, junior Keysha Allison, and freshman Allissa Ware all tallied six kills while sophomore Megan Ozarzak added a couple.
Sophomore Kristen DuBroy was the assist leader with nineteen and Keysha Allison and freshman Lindsay Gaughan served up six each.
On the defensive side of the net, Gosset handed out a team high seven blocks while junior Emily Borchers followed with three. Halberstadt, Allison and Ozarzak all chipped in two. Halberstadt led the team in digs with fourteen and Junior Laura O’Reilly had twelve.
Wheeling Jesuit will travel to West Liberty University for a tri-match Saturday, October 24th. The Cardinals’ first opponent will be rival West Liberty at 1:00 p.m. followed by a 3:00 p.m. match against Urbana University.
