Crimson Hawk Invitational Recap Day 1
Indiana, PA, Nov. 20, 2009---The Wheeling Jesuit University swimming team had a solid showing during the first day of the John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invitational at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Jesuit scored a pair of thirds in the 200 Freestyle Relay. The women’s team of freshman Casey Hamilton, sophomore Chelsea Guisseppi, sophomore Jessica Steve and freshman Emily Martin bested their own WJU pool record time touching with a 1:34.34.
The Cardinal team of freshman Tom Smith, freshman Patrick Chadowski, senior Sergio Bracamontes, and sophomore Max Queale finished in a time of 1:29.24.
Martin continued to impress as she touched first in the 500 Freestyle winning in a NCAA National “B” time of 5:09.85. Sophomore Ben Forman followed up in the Men’s 500, touching 4th in 5:03.40.
The 200 IM saw Freshman Stephanie Blau finish 3rd in 2:19.47. The Cardinal Men had a pair of swimmers in the finals with Chadowski finishing 2nd in 2:03.00 and 6th with Sophomore transfer Ryan Longenette who touched with a time of 2:13.59.
Freshman speedster Hamilton captured 6th in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 25.66, partnered with Smiths 4th place finish in the Men’s event in a time of 22.66.
Jesuit finished the evening with a matching pair of 3rd place finishes in the 400 Medley Relay. The team of Guiseppi, Blau, Martin, and Hamilton finished in 4:14.25. The Jesuit men’s team of Freshman Matt Logan, Longenette, Chadowski, and Smith touched in 3:53.41.
The Cardinals will be in action today and tomorrow.
