Women's and Men's Soccer Teams Rout Tigers
Salem, WV, Oct. 16, 2009---Wheeling Jesuit men's and women's soccer teams traveled to Salem International University for a double header conference match.
In the first game, the Wheeling Jesuit women's soccer team won 13-0. Freshman Ashley McGinnis was credited with the game winner as she found the back of the net three times in the first half for a hat trick. The Cards led 8-0 at the break. Junior Kara Houston also recorded a hat trick, exploading for three goals of her own in the second half.
In game two, the men defeated the Tigers 6-0. Five different Cardinals scored and four recorded assits. The first goal was recorded as an own goal by the SIU. Fresman Paul Silvestrone scored the second goal off a pass from junior Nik Balzer, and freshman Dminic Welsh followed from senior Tony Trabert.
Next, freshman Eric Ketterer found junior Shane Young for the cardinals fourth goal. Junior Stephen Hawthorne set up the next two goals, finding senior Tony Trabert and sophomore Victor Picchio for goals five and six.
Both teams will travel to Concord University for a double header on Sunday, October 18th. The women will kick-off at 11:00 a.m. and the men will follow at 1:00 p.m.
