Students must reapply for financial aid each academic year.  A renewal FAFSA will be sent to continuing students at their home address in December each year for completion after January 1 but before mid-February.  Students whose permanent address has changed or whose aid was based on special circumstances, must pick up a FAFSA in the Financial Aid Office each December for the upcoming academic year.  Be sure to authorize release of the information to Wheeling Jesuit University.  To process your FAFSA on the web, use www.fafsa.ed.gov.

To remain eligible for aid, students must also maintain satisfactory academic progress.  To renew most types of aid, a student must maintain a 2.0 minimum cumulative GPA and earn a minimum of 24 credits per academic year if enrolled as a full-time student.  Part-time students must earn all credits for which they regiester.  A more detailed description of academic progress requirements is available in the Financial Aid Office.

Most academic scholarships require a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA.  The Laut scholarship requires a 3.0 cumulative GPA at the end of the freshman year, 3.1 cumulative GPA at the end of the sophomore year and 3.2 cumulative GPA at the end of the junior year.  If a student's GPA falls below the minimum requirements, scholarship assistance will be withdrawn.  If financial need is shown, lost assistance may be replaced with loan or work opportunity based upon financial need and availability of such funds.

The Financial Aid Office reviews aid eligibility each semester for each student aid applicant.  Because awards are often made for the subsequent year prior to the close of the academic year in progress, those awards are subject to continued eligibility after the close of that academic year in progress.  Changes in cumulative GPA, hours earned, financial need, external aid received or other related factors may require the adjustment of aid offered.
